I think this problem of harassment occurs big towns or cities areas
where there are schools, concentration of unemployed youth.
I also think that the abuse of alcohol plays major role in a family.
where I was born in rural area among muslim Oromos,
really good old days, I missed my Oromo people so gentle,
I never seen boys harassing girls, it is shame to do so.
to start with, there is no time, boys go to farm or looking after cattle,
girls go to market to sell bits and buy salt, kerosene for kuraz, etc.
and girls are busy pounding grains in Mukecha or taking grains to wefcho-bet, etc.
the only time boys and girls meet is when they do Hurubsu,
they kneel down in a row, boys one side and girls oppsite side facing each other,
girls wearing chelle round their necks, boys sticking combs on afro hair,
I was too little then holding my brother Abujadi sheet, watching them
moving their heads left and right, the boys make noise from throat like shegoye,
the girls reply in singing, you could hear the chelle round necks making noise.
in that area they make arranged marriage at early age, so no time for harassment.

Aster social and gender analysis is right on the spot. She want to see the problem from all sides, and that is how one need to see the problem in order to resolve it.

Her presentation is educational.
Soloians' analysis goes off rails, first and foremost her analysis is based on west oriented, which is quite different from our culture and societal development. where she lost the whole thing is that man or in that case woman can appreciate the beautify of a person, with out being sexual.
Forexample, to say you look good. Is not harassment. But to use one's power for sexual favor is harassment. The opposite sex do attract each other, we can't police that natural attraction, but we can change how that sexual attraction is expressed, first by understanding any sexual attraction can only persuade when is reciprocity. If not the person has to move on .

What is Sexual Harassment? these are two words.
Harassment = intimidation, pressurization, hassle, aggravation, annoyance, etc.
Sexuality = capacity for sexual feelings [Yegibregeb Simmet].
Basically, Sexual Harassment = molestation.

Tinkossa is not complete word for sexual harassment,
because sexual harassment is wide and systematic,
a teenage boy bothering classmate girl could be considered as Tinkossa,
but systematic sexual harassment is everywhere, including in prime minister office.

The Hollywood sexual harassment reminds me of Haile Gebresilasie speech,
Haile said - democracy is luxury for Ethiopia, in a way I agree with Haile.
The Hollywood women are gold diggers, I mean come on!
looking straight at breast is considered as sexual harassment?
touching knees in a restaurant sitting round table is sexual harassment?
in America there is compensation culture, hollywood women jumped on the bandwagon.

It pains me when the above women compare hollywood with Ethiopia,
not just sexual harassment in Ethiopia, domestic violence is one of the worst,
how many women are abused or beaten up by their husbands or partners?
the host Yayeh pretends he does not know,
where these people came from? probably from different planet,
for them Ethiopia means a couple of Kebeles in Addis,
or perhaps they came from high society utopia.

This is not just men problem, it is society problem.
Everything starts from home, mothers treat boys better than girls,
when a baby boy is born the father shoot gun in the air as celebration.
even religions discriminate females, a female can not enter bete-mekdes.
The bible says, it was Eve who made Adam to sin, [bullshit]!

Men need to learn how to control their sexual urge or desire from very young age,
just because a woman wearing provocative dress does not give men the right to advance on her.
I remember when I was little boy my older sisters used to take me with them as protection[masferaria]
they were not able to go to market without boys harassing them on the way to market.

Soliyana said even women wearing Hijab get harassed,
true but is not same as wearing tight short skirt half naked,
in my opinion, wearing decently has advantage for women,
they do not spend money on hair extensions or hair products and save time,
they can hide their body shapes, nobody judges them except their husbands,
no need for cosmetic surgery or makeups, and gain respect.
I am not suggesting like wahabi muslims hiding their faces like criminals,
just like our mothers dressing modestly, still feel good about themselves,
women do not need crappy compliments.
By the way I am not into religion before you start calling me a muslim or whatever.
