Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt have once again failed to reach an agreement over the construction of a Dam on the Blue Nile. Ethiopia has been constructing the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam over the last three years amid opposition from the other two countries that allege that the infrastructure will block access to Nile waters. Eighty-five percent of the waters of the River Nile originate from Ethiopia. Once complete, the dam will have the capacity to produce 6,000 megawatts of electricity. Representatives from the three countries plan to reconvene in Khartoum on 27th and 28th December for more discussions.
