ESAT is more effective than G7 and the rest. What Dr Taddesse teaches on ESAT preparing the youth for democracy is more effective than G7 sitting in Asmara for years. I wish Dr Taddesse teaches some of the old generations whose mindset stuck in the past, many of these old Akraris accumulated in DC areas. Some people try to avoid politics, whether we like it or not, politics affects everybody's life, political decision affects the supply of electricity, water, transport, investment or funding priority, etc.. However ESAT should not limit itself to politics only, our problem is deeper than politics, to have productive citizens in all fields we have to think beyond the surface of politics. In Ethiopia when a baby is born already born with liability, First, when the baby was in his mother womb didn't get good nutrition which is essential for foundation of brain development and healthy organs, unhealthy malnurtured mother gives birth to weak unproductive baby. After the baby was born again the mother can not provide important nutrition for the growth of baby, her breast milk lacks essential proteins and minerals. Secondly, when the baby is growing up as a child faces so many social cultural complications, not only the child grow up in extreme poverty but also broken family background or fatherless or even orphan like millions of children in Ethiopia. The worst of all the culture of abuse in the name of discipline, these children are the future leaders grew up in fear, they fear to make decisions, they become suspicious of everyone around them, they overreact, they become too defensive, etc. Mind you the Agazi police who abuse the protesters they themselves were abused, the cycle continues. There was famine during Menelik, famine during Hailesilassie, famine during Derg, famine during woyane, WHY? unless we look into our society problem politics alone won't solve it. ESAT has responsibility to educate our society, invite highly educated sociologists, psychologists, etc. highly educated means not necessarily counting PhDs, there are experienced people who work in this fields, it could be a foreigner doesn't matter, "yetim fichiw duketun amchiw". Unless we have productive citizens the cycle of poverty and the abuse will continue.
