Buying a house is not assimilation or maintaining culture, everybody everywhere want to buy a house where ever she/he is.

culture = fashion it's learned and adopted some hold on to it until death while others immersed in it and then move on to deferent culture people naturally gravitated to a dominant culture and some people have a personal culture

This is not a debate I think you are both agreeing on assimilation. Assimilation is not denying your root or culture and value but is a tool to help you understand the culture you live in and help you understand how to respect their culture and system while dealing with them. This does not mean you have denied you culture. If you don't assimilate you will not be able to survive any where in the world. You can pass your better value and culture to other only when you are able to assimilate. you will complain on the system, people and the country while still trying to live like you are in Ethiopia at the center of north America. You can live with out assimilating by only communicating and interacting with your own people here in north america mostly in DC since it is (junior A.A)
