I am wondering how the good Dr got in to this conclusion. How many years it took him to this ridiculous finding. His irresponsible "finding" based on cold statistics has a serious ramification on the job of many innocent civil serevants. Does he know why Australians are working over time? you don't need a nuclear scientist to figure it out. Because they get more money for each hour overtime hour they work. That infact of Australians came with a terrible social cost. A social and family break down unprecedented over the last 30 years. Now as Tirusew has indicated earlier this bogus finding does not represent our entire people. Is he telling us our farmers in the field and our moms in the kitchen work only for 4 years in their entire life. These kind of haphazard studies has never contributed to the improvement of the productivity of the Ethiopian workers nor do help in upgrading their skills. Rather they are a subtle recommendation for layoffs and work force reductions. On another angel these type of " leb-leb" studies may even compound the age old racist bias towards the black people that " they are lazy". Dr. Please show us the way how to get more capital, more education and increase our productivity. Engage us in a postitve way not in a denigrating and disparging manner.
I wonder how the scholar made such a general conclusion about Ethiopia. I assume the study is made in major cities or the capital city. I infer this based on the contextual reference the scholar was mentioning. Like leaving work at 5:00 pm or 5:30 pm and so on. However majority of the Ethiopian people , to my knowledge, are farmers, nomads, etc. and living in rural areas. It is also known that in most of these places let alone teenagers, even children under ten are sometime subjected to hard labor like farming or looking after cattle's, or walking long distances to satisfy family needs for water, fire wood or other. Therefore, I am just wondering how representative was the study to make such general conclusion about the total population of 70 million or so.
Study conducted in Ethiopia shows Ethiopians in Ethiopia work only a total of four years in their lifetime with the average age of 50. The study also found they spend about 21 years in relaxing and socializing. What do you guys think?

This is depressing. Obviously, that doesn't work for every Ethiopian.
This study has taken Goverment Employees as Sampling Frame, then not possible to generalise about the Whole country
