Aksum one of the oldest cities in the world and also the first kingdom that accepted Christianity as a state religion. The government of Ethiopia is not giving Aksum the support it deserves. Ethiopia has the obligation to bring Aksum to the attention of the world. Aksum should have the same status as Addis Ababa because it is ancient. Tigray has also one of the oldest mosques in the world. Tigray people are not jealous of Lalibela or Gondar for Tigray has much ancient history to be proud of globally.

why are you jealous because Lalibela is popular??? Miqegna tigres want everything in Tigray. I am happy if Lalibela is in Gambella or Hadiya, Amhara people like whether atse Yohannes or Aba Nefso, we do not have inferiority complex.

The White scholar are NOT reliable. We should have our own scholars who will do research on Aksum. Aksum is worth billions of dollars for tourism. People from Europe and America can come to Aksum as tourists. Modernising the city of Aksum will be necessary. Tourists would to stay in a 5 star hotel with modern facilities. The government should invest in infrastructure ( hotels, malls, hospitals, roads) It is only Aksum who can provide the modern and the ancient way of life.

In the discussion, one of the speakers said that Aksum had only obelisks. In Aksum are remnants of Queen Saba Palace and there are underground tombs. Further there are Churches built from rock in the mountains of Tigray. In Tigray (Enderta, Aksum, Adwa, Tembien areas), people build their homes in the style of the Aksumite Kingdom. They build houses from stone and call it Hidmo. Thus the Lalibela Churches were built by Ethiopians as Ethiopians were building similar Churches in Tigray.
