Ambo Wheat Mill Project Attracts 21m Br



Some 21 million Br has been readied for a wheat flour mill to be constructed in Ambo, Oromia Regional State. The plant has a capacity to produce over 420ql of wheat flour a day. The plant creates a market for wheat growers in the area and also creates 120 jobs, according to union Chairperson Tirfesa Negasa. Established with 70,000 Br in capital, 14 years ago, the union has over 41 million Br in capital, at present.

Al-Amoudi to Export 60,000tn of Bananas to Belgium



Over 60,000tn of bananas are to be exported by Saudi Agriculture Company, owned by Mohammed Hussein Ali Al-Amoudi (Sheikh). The stated amount will be exported to a Belgium Company by collecting the fruit from farmers around Arba Minch, 446km. Ethiopian banana attracts market share because it is known for its organic taste and ability to stay fresh for a long time, according to Geremew Kenu, project manager of the Organic Banana Project.

North Gondar Gets 25m Br for Projects



Over 24 million Br has been allocated to undertake eight development projects in the North Gondar Zone Natural Resources Development Programme in Amhara Regional State, according to the Zone’s administration. The projects, which mainly focus on natural resource development, are being undertaken in 19 weredas and two national parks, according to Teshome Mulu, program coordinator.
