Fifteen years ago I visited the palace and the Jimma museum. What impressed me most was his water (Tela) pipe. The king used to fill his pipe’s bowl with tela. In the present day the bowl is filled with several fruit flavored tobacco. The smart and exotic king was smoking the tobacco which was filtered and flavored by TELA. The other fascinating thing about his palace was the bungalows’ built for his multiple wives. Each has her own house. I wonder why he built close to each other. The palace and the museum contain many souvenirs and historical artifacts except any relic about his notorious slave trade.
